Privacy Policy

The shortest privacy policy you'll read all year.

Here's the entire thing in one sentence: My Pet Gatekeeper keeps everything on your device and sends nothing, anywhere, to anyone. The rest of this page just explains why we can say that with a straight face.

What we collect

Nothing. We don't collect personal information, browsing history, usage statistics, crash reports, or anything else โ€” because the extension was built so that none of that ever leaves your computer in the first place. There is no "we" on the receiving end of your data, because no data is sent.

Where your information lives

Everything My Pet Gatekeeper needs to work โ€” the list of sites you've chosen to track, your browsing-time and break-duration settings, your usage budgets, and any pet videos you've uploaded โ€” is stored locally on your own device, using your browser's built-in storage. It stays there. We can't see it, and neither can anyone else, because it never travels anywhere.

Your pet videos

When you upload a video of your pet, that file is saved in your browser's local storage and used only to play during a break. It is never uploaded to a server, shared, analyzed, or used to train anything. It's your pet, on your machine, for your eyes. Remove it whenever you like and it's gone.

Browser permissions, explained

Chrome asks you to approve a few permissions when you install any extension. Here's plainly why My Pet Gatekeeper needs the ones it does:

Storage
To save your settings and pet videos locally so they're still there next time you open Chrome.
Access to the sites you track
So it can count focused time on those sites and display the break overlay when your budget runs out. It reads only what it needs to know whether a tracked tab is active โ€” never the content of your pages.
Tabs
To tell whether a tracked tab is currently focused and visible, so time only counts while you're actually looking at it.

Third parties

There are none. My Pet Gatekeeper includes no third-party analytics, advertising, trackers, or external scripts. We don't sell data (we don't have any), we don't share data (still none), and there are no partners in the loop. It's just the extension and your browser.

Children's privacy

Because My Pet Gatekeeper collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. There are no accounts and no data collection of any kind.

Changes to this policy

If the extension ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. Given that the entire design principle is "keep everything on your device," we don't anticipate that ever meaning "and now we collect things" โ€” but if anything changes, you'll read it here first.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you just want to tell us about your pet, get in touch at hello@petgatekeeper.app. We read every message, and we are powerless against a good pet photo.

Privacy you don't have to think about.

No accounts, no tracking, no catch โ€” just a pet that helps you browse a little less.
